Minor Generator Service Visit

During a minor service visit, our technicians conduct essential inspections and tests to verify the generator's operational readiness. For the lubricating system, an oil sample is taken for analysis (optional), and potential leaks are identified. We confirm the hydraulic governor and lubricating oil heater are functioning correctly, and record oil pressure readings. The fuel system is checked for sediment and leaks, ensuring proper operation of the governor and stop controls, and fuel levels are verified.

The cooling system is inspected for coolant levels and leaks, and the condition of hoses, clips, fan belts, and radiators is assessed. We also verify the operation of block and radiator heaters and ventilation, recording engine cooling system temperatures. The air intake system is examined for damage and cleaned, with air filter element changes as needed. Turbocharger operation and inlet manifolds are checked. The exhaust system is inspected for leaks and signs of blowing, with manifold and turbocharger mounting nuts tightened.

The engine electrical system is assessed for battery electrolyte levels, charging system operation, and wiring integrity. The control panel and instruments are tested for proper operation, including warning lights and gauges. Finally, a general generator maintenance check is performed, covering engine mounting bolts, anti-vibration mountings, governor operation, and engine linkages. We ensure the generator plant room is clean and tidy.

Key Differences from a Major Service:

Unlike the major service, which involves component replacements and adjustments, the minor service focuses on:
